My Second Quilt Show and My First Quilt Award!

I love quilt shows! All the beautiful quilts, friends, vendors, and demos contribute to this special time to come together and celebrate this art form.

Last year, my quilt Heart of Gold was displayed during QuiltCon in Pasadena, CA which is hosted my the Modern Quilt Guild. That was my first quilt show ever.

This year I entered 2 quilts into the Capitol of Texas QuiltFest hosted by my other quilt guild, the Austin Area Quilt Guild. (Yes, I’m a member of two talented local guilds!) My two entries into this year’s show were Waves and Magic Lights.

When I arrived to the QuiltFest I wandered over to the demo area, took a seat, and started glancing at the program. Inserted under the cover of this booklet is a page of the award winners, so I started skimming to see which of my quilt friends won awards. Several did and I’m so proud and excited for them! Then, to my surprise, I noticed my name on the list! Magic Lights won an Honorable Mention. And I have to say…it feels awesome to be recognized.
